Movies That I Partially Like

  • 2001 -- I only like the first 2/3 of the flick -- the acid sequence at the end sucks
  • Citizen Kane -- Exciting, Vivid -- but I'm afraid the middle lags a bit. Excellent Cinematography, though.

Entertaining, Well-Made, yet not necessarily critically-acclaimed movies that I dig

  • Silence of the Lambs
  • Kafka
  • Life of Brian
  • Joe Vs. The Volcano
  • Moonraker -- EASILY The Best Bond Film! As One Critic Put it: "More forceful than Cannonball Run II" (Ha ha)
  • Ed Wood
  • Raiders of the Lost Ark
  • Hairspray
  • The Fugitive
  • The Ten Commandments
  • Mary Shelley's Frankenstein

  • Outland
  • Presumed Innocent
  • The River Wild
  • Stir of Echoes
  • The Blair Witch Project
  • Adventures of Baron Von Munchasen
  • Apollo 13 -- although I hesitate to think that I may have fallen prey here to a NASA PR-effort.

And, Don't Forget Elvis

  • King Creole (1958)

Movies Not On My List

Movies I Have Intentionally Omitted

  • Apocalypse Now — Joseph Conrad was just as verbose and boring as this bland piece of poo-poo.
  • The Deer Hunter — I can't relate . . . and the Russian Roulette scene is unlikely and pointless.
  • Touch of Evil — I don't understand why anybody likes this flick. It is the Film Noir shadows? Charlton Heston as a Mexican?
  • Trainspotting — Everything about this pretentious movie sucked. I liked it when some of the junkie Gen X characters died. It made me happy.

Movies That I Once Thought Were Cool,
But Now Seem Really Dated:

  • The Graduate — It's so "groovy."
  • One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest — I just keep thinking the book was better.
  • Close Encounters of the Third Kind — This one seems tired and silly. And it has a stupid title.
