More Antique New Orleans Postcards (Page 7)

Pages: [ 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 ]

Here are yet more antique postcards that I do not own -- but I have scans of. I hope you enjoy them!

Click on any of the postcard photos below for a more detailed view.

Scene in City Park

This old linen card depicts a pleasant, green view of one of City Park's beautiful canal ways -- and the rentable dinghy's moored from a time gone by.

Coliseum Park

"Waiting now for Aunt Madge to come to lunch. I told Uncle Ed that you were missing him. He laughed." — Grandma (October 3, 1910)

Haunted House

This card is from 1911, and reads: "It is claimed that this house has been haunted since the time of Mme. LaLaurie, 1831."

[Editor's Note: Although no address is given, this photo is of the "LaLaurie"house on the south corner of Royal and Gov. Nichols (map) where it is documented that horrific medical experiments were performed on slaves in an attic chamber. Today, it houses an architect's office and condominiums. For more information on this specific "haunting", see Michael Norman & Beth Scott's great book Haunted America.]

Lacework in Iron, Royal Street

This linen card reads: "Characterisic of the Vieux Carre of old New Orleans are the delicate traceries in cast and wrought iron embroidered on many of the old buildings. This old house at St. Peter and Royal is a good specimen."
